Digital Terrrain Mapping System

Digital Terrain Mapping (DTM) involves using laser scanners and GPS sensors to scan the terrain, and produce an accurate map of the terrain. LC has worked with an industry partner to commercialise the dragline DTM process developed by CSIRO.

The TERRAIN SWEEPER Dragline DTM system provides accurate DTZ's in the region around the dragline with full history information. LC provides a standard for DTM delivery across the mine site.

The combination of full history and database service means that other systems, such as the Vulcan mine planning system from Maptek, and the Pegasys production logger from Mineware can replay actual terrain changes over time, query the current or past mine plans, and provide live and historical comparisons between the plan and actual terrains.

The DTM database standard is open for use by any other terrain supplier, and methods are provided for the entry and integration of third party terrain information.
