Ground Engaging Tools (Noses and Shrouds)

Leslie Consulting Design team (LCD) has developed a broad array of Ground Engaging Tools (GET) for draglines and hydraulic excavators.  With vast experience in mechanical design for mining applications, LCD creates flexible, functional and long lasting GET for the full spectrum of mining conditions.

Using the latest 3D-Modelling software and NC pattern making, LCD is able to provide functional GET components which aren't mitited by the constraints of more traditional designs.  LCD’s library of GET designs is continually being improved to provide longer life, greater protection, lower costs, lower throw-away mass and greater functionality for end users.
LCD works extensively with the PAC Foundry in Maryborough and Austcast Foundry in Brisbane to address gauging, quality, mechanical properties and material issues as they arise.

Central to LCD's GET designs is the Ezylock nose pinning system, for which patents are currently held in Australia and abroad.  Extensive field trials of the Ezylock system in Central Queensland dragline operations have been conducted with enormous success, achieving increased productivity figures and longer service lives, thus producing lower maintenance costs for users of the system.
The Ezylock system is extremely flexible and is currently being used with great success in applications ranging from behemoth 120m3 buckets to those for 70-tonne hydraulic excavators.

LCD has developed ground engaging tools for the full range of CQMS Scoop and Eartheater dragline buckets, including wing shrouds, lip shrouds and teeth, utilising the Ezylock system.  Our designs benefit from CQMS’s vast experience with dragline buckets and use both scale and field testing to make continual improvements to designs.

Features of LC dragline ground engaging tools include:
-Maximal digging efficiency
-Minimal throw away mass
-Long life
-Light weight
-Proper protection of structural components
-User-friendly retention systems

LCD is the mechanical design arm of PAC Mining Pty Ltd, based in Adelaide, South Australia. PAC Mining Pty Ltd is a subsidiary of CQMS and a supplier of GET and Cast Lip components for hydraulic excavator applications, servicing mining operations in Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland.  LCD Ground Engaging Tools for hydraulic excavators have proven bottom-line benefits, particularly the 201” Ezylock Cast Lips supplied for Komatsu PC8000 face shovels operating in New South Wales and Western Australia.

LCD has engineered the entire Ezylock range of noses for PAC Mining, for use in both plate cast lip configurations on backhoes and face shovel machines with operating weights ranging from 70 to 500 tonnes. At the higher end of the spectrum cast lips become more cost effective than plate lips, the mass savings alone provide an easy gauge for comparison. LCD designs standard five and six tooth spade cast lip assemblies to suit the above range and can customise designs to meet specific client needs.

Utilising the immense wealth of knowledge and experience of the entire CQMS group, PAC Mining is well placed to continue to gain market share in Australia, and to export Australian made GET technology to overseas clients, including the US.
